Signal Range (Cordless)

Specified ranges require unobstructed transmission between the handset and base unit. In such ideal conditions some telephones can range up to 300 metres. In densely populated areas, houses, apartments etc the range will be reduced.

Wall mounting

Some base units can be wall mounted. This helps reduce clutter and free up workspace.

Display

Make sure the display is clear and easy to read with well designed and meaningful symbols. If you can't easily understand the display, you may not be able to make best use of all the phones features

Volume control

Look to see if it has an earpiece volume control, this is especially useful for noisy rooms and for the hard of hearing.

Hands free/Group listening

Hands free allows you to continue a conversation with the handset placed on a hard flat surface.
Group listening allows anyone within the room to listen to your conversation while you are holding the handset.

Phone book

The phone book can store many names and telephone numbers, you can quickly and easily retrieve a contact and phone them, without having to remember their phone number. If you subscribe to the Caller ID service the name of any caller stored in the phone book can also be displayed.

Other features

Some phones can send and receive text messages (SMS) as you would use on a mobile phone, another feature may allow you to use it as a baby alarm.

Connection of a headset

An additional headset can be connected to a socket on some telephones. Hearing aid compatible
Look to see if the telephone is hearing aid compatible.

IP Telephony

This is especially useful for those of you who use laptop computers, as it is possible to make free calls to more that 40 million users all over the world.

Walkie Talkies

The communication is free, no licence is needed. The very long range, (up to 6 km) makes it perfect for most outdoor activities.

Baby Monitors

These are voice activated (VoX), so it gives you some piece of mind, knowing that your latest additions are resting, even when you are pruning the roses at the bottom of the garden (we assume that the garden is less than 3km long).

Headsets

These are mainly for the professional market, but there is nothing to so stop you connecting it to a suitable cordless phone, giving you a hands free chat while carrying on doing other things around the house.

Accessories

You may need to include additional chargers, mounting brackets, signal boosters (cordless), speakers, etc., when making your purchase.

Any word that you enter into the keyword field will be matched/part matched against the product descriptions. If you don't find what you are looking for, try using only a single alternative word.

Payment can only be made from a Paypal account, which is the most widely used payment method, thanks to its ebay connection.
